In 1956, Hilmar Pabel was one of the first photojournalists to travel to China on behalf of „Quick“. His book „Im Antlitz des Ostens“ was published about this trip. In the January 1963 issue of Westermanns Monatshefte, his Report on the visit.
70 years later, his daughter Sabine Pabel is publishing a selection of contact prints (impressions) from over 500 existing negatives that Hilmar Pabel took during his trip.
The image rights for the visit with Qi Baishi belong exclusively to Sabine Pabel. Most of the other rights to the images published here from his trip to China also belong to his daughter, Sabine Pabel. Usage rights can be requested via the contact form.
